k-chelsea asked: Hello there! How can one prove that there is a God or that God exists? I mean, how do I explain it to unbelievers who are so convinced that there is no God?

Unka Glen answered: Ah, atheists. I keep hearing about them, but it’s funny how I never seem to meet any. Oh, I’ve met people who would call themselves atheists. But upon closer examination, they’re usually just applying that label to themselves because they think it’s cool, or it gets them attention, or maybe they’re angry at someone who happens to be a Christian, and this is their way of getting their revenge.
In my experience, the more atheist someone says they are, the less atheist they end up being. The more someone over-reacts to the mention of God, the more we’ve got to suspect that there’s something suspicious going on there.
If you’re going to share your faith with someone, you end up making a few assumptions from the get-go. If you assume that what most people say can be taken at face value, prepare to be on the same ride of deception that this person is taking themselves on.
If you assume that most people aren’t inclined to believe in God, and that brilliant intellectual proofs and clever responses are what gets it done, then you’re in for a lot of disappointment, as these things never really work over the long haul.
But how about this for an assumption: the Holy Spirit wants everyone to be united with God, so He is drawing everyone to Himself, and on some level, everyone feels that pull. I really can’t imagine anything else being true. Working from that assumption, you might have a conversation similar to this one I had awhile back:
Person: I’m an atheist!
Me: (sarcastically) Sure you are.
Person: I am!
Me: Okay, if you say so.
Person: Why don’t you believe me? I am.
Me: [cocked eyebrow] Really?
Person: No… I’m just mad at God for letting my mom die like she did.
Me: Now that I believe.
The next time someone tells you that they’re an atheist, get them alone and tell them this: you may fool your little friends, but you don’t fool me, I know, deep down, you have some kind of belief, some kind of certainty that you can’t explain to yourself. Even as you hear these words, you feel a squeezing on your heart to confirm the truth of what I’m saying. There’s something between you and that belief, and whatever it is, when you’re ready, you and I can face it together.
