a-dash-of-ravishing asked: Hey Unka! I was wondering about paranormal events, I know that 99.99% of that stuff is a hoax, but there are some things I’ve even experienced MYSELF, and cases that are just too real. Are they demons? Is it Satan’s plot to lead us astray from Christ and into things like the occult? Thanks for your time! :)

Unka Glen answered: You’re certainly right that most of that “paranormal” stuff is a hoax. And of course both demons and angels are real. The Bible talks about both, so there you have it. But here’s where most people get it turned around: 2 Corinthians 11:14 says “Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.”

You see, the devil doesn’t care about you believing in him, there’s not really much to believe in there anyway, and he knows that. It’s really about you believing in his counterfeit version of God.

Satan says: God cares about you, so He wants you to be rich!

God says: I will supply all your needs according to MY RICHES, so you can focus on giving to the poor.

Satan says: God wants you to be successful! It’s the key to happiness!

God says: Take infinite, perfect peace. Take endless joy. Follow me, and your heart will be so full, it will overflow to those around you.

Satan says: We’re all afraid of so many things in this world, so BE CAREFUL, and try to keep God happy!

God says: Have no fear. I am your hiding place. I will protect you from trouble, and I will surround you with songs of deliverance.

…Anyway, you see the point, the enemy isn’t really looking for you to believe in all that occult stuff. The deeper one goes into reading around and investigating things, the more likely one is to eventually hear the actual Gospel.

The enemy knows that someone with an eyes-open interest in the occult may be closer to finding the truth than a person who has fallen for a fake and messed up version of Christianity that denies people a connection with God from the start.

Satan says: Read your bible, go to church, and pray, then God will be pleased with you.

God says: Just hang with me for awhile. Right now I don’t care what you’ve done. Just let me hold you awhile.

asideofthings asked: Thank you for all the wonderful guidance you’re giving to young people like me! These advices are nuggets of gold. I have a dilemma that I’m struggling with. When I see someone abuse a bible principle/verse, I’m unsure whether or not I should step in and voice out. Often it happens on twitter, with prideful people who can’t accept that they’re wrong.

Unka Glen answered: Proverbs 25:4-5 says, “Do not answer a fool according to his folly, or you will be like him yourself. Answer a fool according to his folly, and he will be wise in his own eyes.” Or you can follow the modern day equivalent of that verse: don’t feed the trolls.

The enemy often uses the internet to set a trap for Christians. Imagine if you will, one demon reporting to another demon (in the style of C.S. Lewis’s Screwtape Letters) on how this trap is set up.

“You’ll be pleased at the brilliant trap I’ve devised! No Christian will be able to resist falling for it! The bait for this trap is simply a debate that the Christian knows he or she can win. Their vanity won’t allow them to consider anything but rushing in to achieve victory! They know the right answer, and they can express it in 140 characters or less. And of course they must defend the Bible, so they will take the bait without thinking.

We can tie up thousands, maybe millions of Christians this way, working tirelessly to convince people that not only won’t be convinced, but would never even consider being convinced, lest they lose the attention they so desperately crave. These Christians will think themselves brave heroes and defenders of the faith, meanwhile they’ll step over someone wide open to hearing the Gospel in order to type out their latest reply.

The best part is the bitterness, the meanness, and the personal conflicts that these conversations always descend into. They’ll think that this is what outreach is! Conflict and drama and ugliness! Oh my! The very best part of this is, the people we will tempt into posting all these easily provable wrong things will be people who are hurting, and the Christians will never think to stop and bring healing, they’ll eagerly do more damage!

In conclusion, I think we were all pretty pleased with the amount of porn we’ve got onto the internet, and how easily people are tempted over to it, but in the end, I believe my plan will: A) distract them for longer, B) corrupt their minds, C) pervert their goals, and D) keep them from doing the kind of good we worry about them doing in the world. By comparison, porn is just a guilt machine. Best wishes, and as always, Hail Satan.”

If you’ve fallen for this trap, raise your hand. Okay, I see basically everyone’s hand is up, so let’s all commit to doing better, shall we?

With that, is there anything you can do? I think there is. Think of the people that respect what you have to say. That might be people who follow your Tumblr, or people in your church, or Twitter followers. Tell them, “I’ve seen some things floating around on the internet, and in case you’ve seen the same thing, here are a few Bible verses to look at.”

In that way, rather than engaging the fool on his folly, you’re engaging with your people and helping them to learn the truth.

"It is important to confront your doubts head on. If you bury all your doubts deep down because you want to seem like a perfect Christian to the other Christians, then the devil will get ahold of those strings of doubt, and fly you like a kite whenever he wants."

leeyounger:

Do you need to tell Satan where to go? Here’s a song for ya.

One of my favorite things on the internet is a series of letters that my friend Glen Fitzjerrell (Unka Glen) wrote to Satan. These letters help us gain some perspective on the spiritual battle we all face, and they help de-fang the pitiful (yet all-too-often-effective) tactics of the devil to take people out.

I love those ‘Dear Satan’ posts so much that I have started to write some songs in the same vein as those letters. These songs are both a shout-out to the awesome work Unka Glen is doing, and they are part of my own battle tactic to fight off the old serpent. This is a video of the first ‘Dear Satan’ song I wrote, which is called, “BEFORE.” Sing along if you need some help fighting your spiritual battle.

You can read all of Unka Glen’s Dear Satan letters, RIGHT HERE

(also, I want to say thanks to my friend Taylor Lane who shot and edited this video, and the one and only Jed Brewer who created the audio production template that makes it sound as good as it does)

ciaradawn asked: Hey Unka Glen! As usual, your words have been encouraging me and helping me TONS. How God speaks through you is absolutely awesome. However, I’ve been having this issue lately that’s not so awesome. You know how some people get really bad anxiety at night? Well, I get really bad anxiety in the morning, as soon as I wake up. All these thoughts, worries, and everything else is spinning around my head to the point where I’m worn out by the time it’s lunch. Is there anything I can do to get rid of this anxiety?

Unka Glen answered: You’re not alone. I’ve experienced this exact same thing. I have a Tuesday night worship service that we run for ex-cons and gangbangers to find a church home, and we usually have about 70-100 people attend. It’s exhausting, exhilarating, and overwhelming every week. And God really does watch out over it. But come Wednesday morning, it’s like all of the enemy’s attacks that were held back, come rushing in and anything that can be tweaked out, is tweaked out. So yeah, the enemy will look for any opening or weakness he can find.

So how do we deal with the enemy attacking us like this? Well, Unka Glen has got something for ya! I put this post together specifically for your question, so cut and paste the text into your word processor, then print it out, and then tape the printout to your bedpost.

You can see all the “Dear Satan” posts here.

Stay away from my friends.

That’s your last warning. You’ve been told, and next I’m gonna show you how strong I feel about this. Is that what you want? I will come at you with everything I’ve got, and when that runs out, do you wanna know where I’m gonna go, to get more of what I need to defeat you? Yeah, I didn’t think so.

I see what you’re doing, trying to get my friends to hate themselves. You may occasionally convince them to think they suck, to slip and slide here and there, but I’m gonna love them relentlessly until they finally see that I’m no fool to love them, and that this love comes from God Himself. You don’t like hearing that, do you?

You win battles, I win wars. Sure you can make it LOOK like you’re winning. Sure you can ruin a day or two here or there. But make careful note of this: I DON’T QUIT. Period. Not now, not ever. Sure, I might waver here and there. I might have my own stupid fumbles and stumbles, but if you think that’s gonna make me lose heart for my friends then you’re as stupid as your own lies.

You think you can drive a wedge between me and my friends? Make them hate me? Stir up contention and conflict? That won’t work either, wanna know why? No? I’ll tell you anyway. Because I pledge myself right now to forgive them for anything they do wrong to me, and humble myself on anything I do wrong to them. It takes two to have a conflict, so I can totally defeat your efforts by simply dropping my end of the conflict and showing love. It’s that simple. Unlike you, I’ve been forgiven, so I can be forgiving… and humble.

Do you think you want them hurt as bad as I want them healed? You think I’m gonna turn a blind eye to what you’re doing? You think you can step in where you don’t belong and claim what isn’t yours? Do I look like a punk to you? I may not intimidate you much, but I know the dude standing right behind me with the scars on His hands sure as Hell does.

Sorry that your usual tricks haven’t been working.
As you’ve no doubt come to see, I’m through playing with you.
I’ve figured out: I’m no useless worm.
You’re the one meant to grovel on the ground.
I’m the one meant to mount up with eagle’s wings.
What will you tempt me with? Depression?
I’ve got a fountain of joy that Never. Runs. Dry.
Will you tempt me with money?
I’m on God’s business, everywhere I go manna is on the ground.
Will you tempt me with sex?
I don’t know how to explain this to you…
But when my wife looks at me, she sees five and a half feet of pure sexy.
“Not fair!” you might say.
Indeed it is not.
God made her see beauty where others wouldn’t.
For that matter, I don’t know what other men see when they look at her.
I see a stone-cold fox that makes me sit up and say “Mmmm Hmmm”.
I waited a long time for her.
I know exactly how much of a blessing she is.
And bro, she knows how to please me.
So no thanks to the shallow, vain, and aloof “temptress”.
I’m way past that homie.
Will you tempt me with power?
By taking the very nature of a servant, I have ironically gained power.
I have credibility… do you know what that is?
It is: the quality, capability, or power to elicit belief.
You can summon tens of thousands to destroy.
But with a word, the mere utterance of a word, I can built up.
I can be the bridge between almighty God and his lost child.
With. A. Word.
That is power.
What makes you think you can tempt me?
God will make a way out of no way.
I will have my every need met.
I will be given the gifts I need, when I need them.
I, in fact, will reign with Him
The One who holds all existence in the palm of his hand calls me by my name.
I will live forever.

Push on bro, nothing for you here.
